Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects the nervous system. There are many different types of epilepsy. Each epileptic syndrome is characterized by a specific set of symptoms. Epilepsy is known to be hereditary in some cases. Epilepsy is classified by symptoms or by the position in the brain where the symptoms originate. Some common types of epilepsy are absence epilepsy, psychomotor epilepsy, temporal lobe epilepsy, frontal lobe epilepsy, occipital lobe epilepsy and parietal lobe epilepsy. There are many other types of epilepsy, each with its own characteristic set of symptoms.

People suffering from absence epilepsy have repeated absence seizures that result in momentary lapses of consciousness. These seizures almost always begin in childhood or adolescence. This form of epilepsy tends to run in families, which suggests that it may be partially due to a defective gene or genes.

Psychomotor epilepsy is another term for recurrent partial seizures, especially seizures of the temporal lobe. The term psychomotor refers to the strange sensations, emotions and behavior seen with these seizures.

Temporal lobe epilepsy, or TLE, is a common epilepsy syndrome with partial seizures. TLE often begins in childhood. Research has shown that repeated TLE could cause certain brain structures to shrink over time. While it may take years of temporal lobe seizures for any significant brain damage to occur, it needs to be treated early and as effectively as possible.

Frontal lobe epilepsy usually involves a cluster of short seizures with a sudden onset and termination. The symptoms depend on where in the frontal lobe the seizures occur. Many subtypes of frontal lobe seizures are known.

Occipital lobe epilepsy usually causes visual hallucinations, rapid eye blinking or other eye-related problems. The other symptoms resemble those in the case of temporal or frontal lobe epilepsy.

Several types of epilepsy begin in infancy. The most common type of epilepsy seen in infants is infantile spasms. Some Infants suffer from seizures from as early as 6 months. During these seizures the infant may bend and cry out. Anticonvulsant drugs often do not work for infantile spasms, but the seizures can be treated with ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) or prednisone.

People should discuss the implications of their type of epilepsy with their doctors to understand the full range of symptoms, possible treatments and the prognosis.

If you have a chronic vaginal yeast infection or treat it only to get another one shortly afterward, you may have a more serious problem than you are aware of. Part of the problem is that many of us find it too embarrassing to keep bringing it up with our doctor. We would much rather treat it ourselves, despite the cost and frustration.

If we do speak with our doctor about it, he or she might tell us we are simply more susceptible than most people, and not to worry about it. So, we treat it, and we treat it, and we treat it.

We might have a lot of other physical issues that we would also rather keep to ourselves. Again, it’s either too embarrassing, or we fear sounding like a hypochondriac. Sometimes, we start to wonder if there is something psychologically wrong with us.

Well, guess what. I have some good news and some bad news for you. The good news is that you’re not crazy. There is really nothing psychologically wrong with you.

Now, for the bad news. For one reason or another, an opportunistic organism has multiplied within your body to the point that your immune system is unable to irradiate it.

This can become a vicious cycle, since the organism will continue to weaken your immune system. Candida, which is always present in manageable numbers, has multiplied out of control. It trashes your immune system. Your immune system can’t restore the balance. Candida multiplies further.

There are several symptoms to a Candida yeast infection. Some, you will likely have. Others, you won’t. So, let’s look at the symptoms, what may have caused it in the first place, and how to regain your health.

As I said earlier, Candida Yeast is always present in your body, along with ten times as many bacteria as you have human cells. Candida keeps the harmful bacteria in check.

When you use antibiotics for a bacterial infection, the antibiotics wipe out the invading bacteria. Unfortunately, antibiotics are so good at what they do that they also wipe out the beneficial bacteria. I’m not saying that you should never use antibiotics. There are times when they might literally save your life. I am saying that you should not use them unnecessarily. Speak with your doctor about the pros and cons before you decide if the benefits outweigh the risks.

Symptoms of a Candida yeast infection are more numerous and varied than you might suspect. Vaginal yeast infection is a symptom most people are aware of. Other things that could be a result of a Candida yeast infection are constant fatigue, difficulty focusing or thinking straight, a white coating on your tongue or gums, abdominal pain, bloating and indigestion, an increase of food allergies, gluten intolerance, cravings for sweets, joint and muscle pain, weight gain or loss, fungus of the finger or toe-nails, urinary tract infections, itchy red eyes, skin rashes, cracks in the corners of your mouth, rashes inside the ears and around the groin area, anal, penile, or vaginal itching, hair loss, vision problems, depression. Who wouldn’t be depressed by feeling so worn out and tired all the time?

And yet, the list goes on. There is painful sex, constipation, diarrhea, shortness of breath, jumpy legs, and muscle cramps.

You may have other symptoms not mentioned here. The possibility has been raised that fibromyalgia could be a symptom of Candida yeast infections.

If you have been suffering from any or several of these symptoms, the worst is over. Some diet changes will be necessary. If you have been giving in to your sugar cravings, which are actually Candida’s craving for its favourite food source, you will have to cut down on carbohydrates.

There are many remedies for Candida yeast infections. Understand that most of them, on their own, aren’t successful. You have to attack the Candida yeast infection from all sides.

What is osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis, or porous bone, is a disease characterized by low bone mass and structural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to bone fragility and an increased susceptibility to fractures of the hip, spine, and wrist. Men as well as women suffer from osteoporosis, a disease that can be prevented and treated.

Osteoporosis is often called the “silent disease” because bone loss occurs without symptoms. People may not know that they have osteoporosis until their bones become so weak that a sudden strain, bump, or fall causes a hip fracture or a vertebra to collapse. Collapsed vertebra may initially be felt or seen in the form of severe back pain, loss of height, or spinal deformities such as kyphosis, or severely stooped posture.

The bones in our skeleton are made of a thick outer shell and a strong inner mesh filled with collagen (protein), calcium salts and other minerals. The inside looks like honeycomb, with blood vessels and bone marrow in the spaces between bone. Osteoporosis occurs when the holes between bone become bigger, making it fragile and liable to break easily. Osteoporosis usually affects the whole skeleton but it most commonly causes breaks (fractures) to bone in the wrist, spine and hip.

Bone is alive and constantly changing. Old, worn out bone is broken down by cells called osteoclasts and replaced by bone building cells, called osteoblasts. This process of renewal is called bone turnover

Magnetic therapy treatment for osteoporosis.

Magnetic therapy treatments for osteoporosis follow the same rules that apply to the treatment of arthritis. That is the magnets need to be applied as close to the point of pain as possible. The same devices can be used for osteoporosis: magnetic therapy straps, wraps, insoles, pads and jewellery. Because osteoporosis is predominantly found in the long bones (although all bones with low density can be affected) most major load bearing joints are affected. For this reason painful symptoms can be very severe as mobilising becomes extremely painful, to ensure the fastest possible result from magnetic therapy super strength magnets (2500-3000 gauss/ 250-300 m tesla) should preferably be used.

Fractures are very common with osteoporosis and magnets can increase the bodies ability to heal bone fractures. If you sustain a bone fracture magnets should be applied to the site of the fracture as soon as possible after the break. If the bone is in a plaster cast then it will not be possible to use magnets until it has been removed but as soon as the cast is removed magnets can be applied. They will increase the rate at which the bone knits together plus encourage new cellular growth around the fracture site.

You have no doubt heard about the swine flu that is going around. It is a new flu that is putting people in the hospital and in many cases claiming lives. So, what can you do to prevent you and your family from getting sick? Well in addition to all the health precautions you have probably seen on the news you may also want to consider taking a little more time out to clean the door knobs in your home.

You don’t know what germs are on the hands of you and your family when you come in and out of the house. Think of all the things you touch when you are out in public. You are touching door knobs and handles that thousands of people have touched. If one of them had swine flu you could have picked up the germs and are carrying them around on your hands, just waiting until they can find a way into your body.

Sure, cleaning your hands is one way to try and make sure you don’t get infected, but you also have to think about the other members of your family and how good they are at always washing their hands when they should. Kids are especially bad at this. They have so many other things on their minds they just don’t think or care about the safety aspects of washing their hands regularly. Instead they continue to play with their friends who may be coughing and sneezing and bring those germs home. And if those coughing and sneezing kids visit your house, they are likely putting the germs on your knobs themselves.

So, in addition to making sure you make your children wash their hands every time you turn around, you should also make sure you are regularly cleaning your door knobs as door knobs are a common transfer location for swine flu germs.

Hot Soapy Water- You should use warm or hot soapy water to clean the door knobs initially. This will help get dirt and grime off of the knobs and will also hopefully remove any of the germs that may have gotten onto the door knobs from those little infected hands.

Disinfectant – Next you should go through the household cleaners you already have in your home and look for ones that can help you take this cleaning to the next level. Something that is anti bacterial will help to make sure those germs are not transferring anywhere. But before you use just any cleaner, make sure to read up on it. Some cleaners are not meant for certain types of materials. Make sure you are using something that is safe for your door knob and the door surface.

Swine flu is a big threat these days and none of us are immune to it. But you can protect your family a little more by taking a few steps to try and remove the threat of infection from your home. Regularly cleaning the door knobs is one of the vital things on this list.

Does a migraine cure actually exist or are the experts right when they tell us there’s no definitive cure? Finding out the answer will require us to evaluate things in a rational and controlled fashion. Our first step will be to understand the terminology “migraine” and “cure.” As soon as we understand the medical definitions for these words we will be able to figure out whether or not a migraine treatment really exists that will enable you to cure the problem forever.

If we look in a dictionary, no matter whether it’s online or in printed form, medical or standard, the word “migraine” is typically defined as a disorder presenting periodic severe headache, usually one-sided, and frequently accompanied by nausea and vomiting. It is unknown what causes migraine, but enlargement of intracranial blood vessels typically occurs previous to the headache pain.

The next word we must define is “cure” and is a way of restoring health. To cure a condition is to restore somebody’s health or have healing take place by some kind of health treatment or other course of treatment. As well as restoring health, a cure is additionally attained when there is a remission of symptoms and signs of a disease, particularly if the symptoms of the disease do not appear for a prolonged interval of time.

Now that we’ve defined these two terms we can agree on what “migraine cure” truly means. If anyone is to achieve a migraine headache cure they must have headache pain that is recurring, moderate to severe in intensity, usually on one side of the head, and often including nausea and vomiting. Once it has been proven that the type of headaches are in actual fact migraines they need to be cured, or at a minimum have the symptoms of the illness go away for a lengthy period of time.

If someone’s health is the reason for migraine attacks, restoring their health to where they have complete migraine relief for a long duration of time by means of a migraine headache treatment means they were cured of the disorder. It shows us that the treatment for migraine will have produced the elimination of any symptoms of the disorder, or has provided full migraine headache relief, for a prolonged amount of time. If this transpires, a migraine cure was accomplished as per the definitions as mentioned previously. All migraine treatments or migraine remedies that cause an individual’s migraine pain to go into remission for a prolonged duration of time proves to us that migraine cures really exist.

Now that we grasp what a migraine cure involves, let’s examine a real life case in point to determine if a cure is actually possible. There are many factors that cause migraine attacks. Some normal triggers are alcohol, stress, bright lights, caffeine, and lots of others.

For this case in point let’s assume that somebody develops migraine pain every time they drink drinks with caffeine like coffee and high energy drinks. If caffeine is the cause of the migraine symptoms, then it makes sense that discontinuing the consumption of caffeine will eliminate the signs and symptoms. And in reality, this is precisely what happens whenever caffeine is the trigger.

If an individual develops a migraine each and every time they ingest caffeine, and then stop consuming caffeine, if their signs and symptoms go away for an extended period of time they’ve cured their migraine disorder as outlined by our standard medical definitions as noted above.

In our example caffeine was the reason for the symptoms or the condition, but in reality there can be a large number of causes. Nevertheless, no matter what causes a person to develop migraine symptoms, if they make use of some form of migraine treatment that brings about a remission of symptoms for an extended amount of time, they have actually cured their condition.
